Fried Turkey Seasoning - Fab Flavours if
Deep or Shallow Frying Your Birds

If you're into deep or shallow frying your birds, then this fried turkey seasoning is just the blend for you! With a fair bit of paprika it is ideal for turkey, and can also be used with chicken and game birds. You can also use it as a general seasoning or rub for barbecuing. (See the bottom of the page for links to more of my recipes)

Ingredients: (makes about 12 tablespoons)

3 tbsp paprika powder
2 tbsp garlic powder
2 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp onion powder
4 tsp dried marjoram
4 tsp black peppercorns
2-4 tsp chili powder
2-3 tsp salt

tbsp = tablespoon
tsp = teaspoon

Directions:

  • Grind the salt and peppercorns
  • Once ground, add to a bowl
  • Stir in the onion, garlic, chili and paprika powders
  • Finally, crumble in the dried marjoram and thyme and combine well

Store your turkey seasoning in an airtight jar out of direct sunlight. Use within 2-3 months before making up a fresh lot.

Ingredient Note:
I always have whole peppercorns available so I tend to use them. If you don't,  just use pre-ground pepper and reduce the amount by half. So instead of 4 teaspoons of peppercorns you would use 2 teaspoons of ground pepper and stir in with the other powders.
