Homemade Ground Garam Masala - A Super
Easy-to-Make Mix of Traditional Spices

If you are short of time then this ground garam masala is the one to choose. From start to finish you can have it made and be adding authentic flavours and aromas to all your home cooked Indian dishes in less than 5 minutes! (See the bottom of the page for other recipes)

Note: All the ingredients in this recipe are pre-ground powders...

What You'll Need: (makes about 10 tablespoons)

3 tbsp coriander
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp fenugreek
1 tbsp mustard
1½ tbsp cumin
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon

tbsp = tablespoon
tsp = teaspoon

Directions:

  • Simply mix everything together!

Store your garam masala powder in an airtight container out of direct sunlight. Use within 3 months.

Note: Whilst this recipe uses ground powders, if you have more time you could use a few whole spices and grind them fresh. If you do, just double the amount the recipe says. For example, for 3 tablespoons of ground coriander, you would use 6 tablespoons of whole coriander seeds. See the links at the bottom of the page for recipes that use whole.
